108th Grey Cup

With the COVID-19 pandemic halting the 2020 CFL season entirely, it has been incredible to see sports return in 2021.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers had to wait two years to defend their title, but the team once again found themselves in the Grey Cup final.

As luck would have it, the Blue Bombers were matched up against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the team they defeated in 2019.

With over 26,000 fans packed into Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the Tiger-Cats had a clear home field advantage, with fans eager to see the team win their first championship since 1999.

At the half, Hamilton had a slight edge with the score 10-7. Juno award-winners, and Hamilton’s own, the Arkells performed the halftime show with special guests The Lumineers and K.Flay.

Late in the game it seemed like Hamilton would finally return as champions, but a big fourth quarter from Winnipeg pushed the game into overtime.

But that would be as close as the home side would get to a victory. In what was an incredible game, Winnipeg won to capture their second consecutive Grey Cup trophy.

Final score:

Winnipeg 33-25 Hamilton
